10 traits of successful bloggers

habits of successful bloggers

Blogging has seen rapid growth in the decade, thanks to the tools like Bluehost, WordPress, and, importantly, the Internet. Anyone with the most basic computer knowledge can start a blog and pour their expertise on the web to help others in need.

But, here’s the deal – not everyone makes it because they don’t consider habits as important.

The author of Atomic Habits says, habits are "the small decisions you make and actions you perform every day."

In this article, I’m sharing with you ten traits of successful bloggers.

10 habits of successful bloggers

#1. They read

“Readers are leaders.”

The more you read, the more wisdom you gain.

I am not just talking about kindle books or paperbacks.

Visit your competitors or blogs around your niche to read their content. It gives you content ideas for your next posts and helps you understand more about writing better articles than them.

#2. They write

A lot.

The more you write, the better you get at it.

Sorry to disappoint you, but the major skill you will need to grow as a blogger is writing.

It takes time and effort to get good at writing, but it is worth it. Successful bloggers invest their most time into writing, editing, and planning content for their blogs.

#3. They feel “entrepreneurship”

I don’t consider my blog as blog rather I work on it as my serious business.

Thinking of transforming a blog into a business can seem tough and scary…But allow the thought gradually.

Feel like an entrepreneur, set goals, plan strategies and swat up on SEO or social media.

The deal is simple – the more you think of it as a gig, the more efforts you’ll put to make your blog grow.

#4. They know their audience

Most entry level bloggers are in doom and they don’t know who they’re talking to.

But successful bloggers know exactly who their audience is, where they hang out, what content form they like, and their problems.

Since they know, it gets easier for them to craft content sufficiently – Not more, not less, and not boring.

#5. They engage with audience

Authority is the new king of blogging.

One of the best ways to build authority is to show up and engage with your audience – be it on your blog or social media.

Put time to respond to the blog comments, talk to your followers on Twitter or email list.

It implies you care for your readers and goes big in the long haul.

#6. They are analytical

Successful bloggers don’t sit still after they publish a dozen SEO optimized posts.

They keep looking for ways to make it better. They study their data – traffic source, page views, search terms, visitor behaviour, no. of links, and competitor analysis.

They always tailor their content and presentation to match their audience intent.

It is also evident that bloggers who measure results have more chances to grow.

#7. They are persistent

Good things don’t just magically happen in a day or a week.

It’s been five-plus years since I started blogging, and I’m still finding room for improvement and working hard day and night to grow my blog.

You need to be consistent with your picked niche and approach. Whether you post one article in a week or a month – stick to it.

And keep giving your best even when you see things are being undeveloped. An optimistic mindset does the trick in blogging.

#8. They are goal oriented

Successful bloggers create plans of action – daily, weekly, monthly and yearly, and they have goals – short-term and long-term.

It is important that what you really want and how you are going to achieve it.

Is your monthly goal to hit 1000 page views?

Is your long-run goal to consistently make money as a blogger?

Are you writing a 5,000-word article and build five backlinks to it in a month?

You can develop tiny goals and start working on them from today. When you see it in the big picture, you will have so much achieved.

#9. They invest

I recently talked about a blogging investment that is worth making to build a successful blog.

I will recap it here – Domain name and web hosting are two foundational investments that you can quickly grab from a service like Bluehost India.

As you expand and grow later, you can always invest in next level things like

I can speak from my years of experience – don’t hesitate to invest in something that can make you better.

Know what skills can make you money and be willing to invest for learning them.

#10. They experiment

Do you consume content from others? Yes!

Do you implement them to grow your blog? Yes!

Do you tweak the tactics if they’re not yielding results? No!

You can’t be successful in blogging, waiting a long time for good things to happen without trying new things.

Just like blogging, habits must go the long haul. Let me know in the comments if you have other traits to add to this post.

Great post. Love the persistency point – most people don’t have the persistence to stick through the first year or so when traffic is low> and that’s why they fail at it.

But after you get through that point… Blogging is insanely effective!

    Keep up the great work👍
